I am DONE buying boxes of microwave popcorn.

I got a new microwave yesterday. The one I had I have had for several years and it sounded like it was prepping to launch into outer space or about to explode.

My friend Joseph bought me the microwave. He took me to walmart and let me pick one out. Whichever one I wanted!

It's awesome. It even has a heating element in the top. Like to broil/grill/bake things!! This is the kind of microwave I would want to take to college with me! If i were going away to college and had no access to an oven.

Anyway, point is.. When we were shopping I told him one of the features I wanted on it was the popcorn button cuz my kids are microwave popcorn crazy. and he told me.. "you know you can just cook popcorn kernels in a brown paper lunch bag, right? It's healthier and tastes awesome."

Well, tonight we did that. Now I am sitting here wondering why no one ever told me that before!! It is so good!! Like the old air popped popcorn my Dad used to make!

Guess you learn something new every day!!

Way to save money, and way to be healthier and still eat popcorn! YAY!

Well it's time to lay here with my continued headache and watch my shows.. I only had like 3 out of 11 on this week so far. Fringe tomorrow night makes it 4 out of 11 for the whole week.. TV please get going again!

Ok, so tell me...what do you use to keep the bag shut? And how long do you put it in for? I want to try this too!

Thanks! I don't have a popcorn button on my microwave (it's THAT old...) so I'd have to experiment with the time, I guess. I presume I'd put it on the HIGH setting, so if I stand in front of the microwave the first few times I'll be able to tell how long it takes to pop most of the kernels without burning. Should be interesting...

We used to have special pop corn popper, but we overheated it one summer holidays because me and Hannah, just sat there watching the popping for to long.

I'll remember that for when I move out. Thank you for telling me.

And that was sweet of your friend.

I buy black popcorn kernels.

The kernels are black (some people call them blue) - but the popcorn pops white.

Yummy. I swear the black kernels taste better than the yellow or white kernels.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen those. I'll have to look for them.

My problem is, I'm addicted to Kettle Corn. How do you make THAT the old-fashioned way? *ponders*

But... How? As in how much, how long & do you need to seal the bag?
