SUMMARY: Kensi has thinky thoughts after pretending to be married to Deeks for a case.

Hetty wished them all a good night, “Go home, sleep, preferably in your own beds.”

The group exchanged goodnights as they walked out of the office to their cars.

Deeks, being ever persistent, clears his throat and smirks at Kensi, “So, you and Monica met a guy?” begging for her to continue the story with an eager face.

Kensi shakes her head at him, “I do not want to talk about this now.” As she puts her bag up over her shoulder.  Leave it to Deeks to not forget anything to do with Kensi’s personal life.

“Maybe it would be cathartic?” He begs with his eyes and big adorable smile.

“Goodnight, Deeks.” She says as she throws her jacket over her shoulder and walks away as he tries to protest her leaving.

“No! Come on.”

“Night hubby.” She is almost in the clear. She needs to think.

She hears his string of pet names as she leaves the building, “Wifey? Light of my life? Sugar bear?”

On her way home she is finally able to think, unguarded, without Deeks an arm’s length away looking at her every move. It has certainly been an interesting case. Now all she wants to do is go home and fall into bed.

First things first, before falling into bed she has to take a shower, get all the make-up, gunfight, and the feeling of Brett’s hands off of her.

Brett’s hands.

This was always the process, the price of being beautiful and female in this industry, being touched by men.  Even if they are attractive it is still not always wanted attention and she feels a little used after each encounter, especially since she has recently focused her attentions on someone more specific.

Deeks.

If she thought she was confused about her feelings for him before now she was mistaken. She is even more confused now that she has been in close contact with him for days, living as husband and wife. She knows she shouldn’t be thinking like this, he is her partner. They have to work together every day. But she can’t help but think what it would be like to actually be with him, even be married to him.

She dried off after her shower and pulled out a t-shirt and sweats from the drawer and crawled under the covers.

The thoughts started swirling again as she fights with her brain to just settle down and let her sleep.  Polina. She drove Kensi crazy jealous, putting her paws all over Deeks. Polina and Brett were just freaky swingers, a relief to the case, but not to her mind.

She continued to think about the time she spent with Deeks the last few days, the things he said, the way he acted towards her, the looks, and the kiss. He, like her, remembered what she wore the day they met. All of that had to mean something, right?

Then a major one hit her. He may have been playing around, but they talked about kids, about him helping her with that and oddly enough she hadn’t reacted against the idea forcefully.

“Stop Kensi!” She nearly shouted to herself. She focused on her feet, relaxing them, and then moved to her knees. Focusing on each body part, willing herself to relax and fall asleep.

Her eyes periodically popped open and she looked at the clock. Two hours had passed since she got into bed. This wasn’t working. Deeks started creeping back into her thoughts again. She missed him. She missed the weight of him in the bed, his solid breathing next to her. Even though they had only shared a bed for just a little while she missed him. She just wanted to sleep. They could talk and think over things later, she just needed to sleep.

Acting on impulse she hopped out of bed and slipped on her shoes, grabbed her phone, and headed to the car. She drove to Deeks’s apartment and while she sat in the car debating going in or going back home her phone buzzed.

It was a text from Deeks.

“I can’t sleep. I miss you.”

That sealed the deal. She got out of the car and quickly went up the stairs and knocked on his door. A few seconds later he opened it, wearing a t-shirt and shorts, one shoe on his foot and the other in his hand.

“Kensi! What are..um, you doing here.” He asked dropping his shoe to the floor.

“I got your text. Are you going somewhere?” she asked curiously.

“I, uh, was just coming to see you….uh.” He was nervous. “Wait, I just sent that text a minute ago, where were you?”

“Uh,” Kensi looked at her feet. “I was sitting in my car out in the parking lot here.” She looked up to meet his eyes. “I can’t sleep either; I miss you next to me. I don’t care what Hetty said about sleeping in our own beds. We can try that another night. I just want to lie next to you and sleep, I am so tired.”

Deeks smiled at her and reached for her hand. “Come on.” He said as he pulled her inside and shut the door.  He led her down the hall to his bedroom and they pulled off their shoes and headed for the bed.

“We should talk,” Deeks says as he lifts the covers and moves to lie down.

“Later, I just want to sleep. I can’t think anymore today.” She mirrors his movements and turns her back towards him.

He moves behind her and wraps his arm around her waist and pulls her to him and leaves a feather light kiss on her neck as he breathes her in. “Whatever you say wifey.”

“Night, hubby.”

They were asleep within moments, content that they were together.
